Formentera is the smallest of the Balearics and the one where nothing happens, which is exactly the point.

White sand. Turquoise shallows. A pace that feels like a pause. No clubs, no designer malls, no must-see landmarks. The island rewards people who have nothing to prove and nowhere to be.

This is do-nothing luxury. You wake up when the sun gets bright. Walk to breakfast in a t-shirt. Spend the morning on a beach where the water is clear enough to see your toes. Eat grilled octopus for lunch. Nap. Rent a scooter and find a cove for sunset. Dinner at a place with no walls and sand on the floor.

Formentera works best as a 2 to 3 day add-on to an Ibiza trip, longer if you have a villa. Just enough time to reset. You move around on a scooter or a jeep. You eat at a different spot every day and still have more to try. Beach clubs are around if you want a scene, but the real draw is finding your own stretch of sand and staying there.

    Formentera is tiny, 12km end to end. A scooter or a jeep is all you need. Delivered to your hotel. The road to Cap de Barbaria is the one everyone remembers: flat, straight, ending at a lighthouse above cliffs.
